Couche-Tard built 20 stores last quarter. Żabka is still a tender, not a close
Twelve new stores, eight relocations, 42 still under construction. The Polish deal is not in the door count.
Sept. 8, 2026 — Couche-Tard’s own network moved by dozens, not thousands, in the quarter ended July 19. The company acquired two company-operated stores for cash, completed 12 new stores, and relocated or rebuilt eight, for 20 projects since the start of fiscal 2027. Another 42 stores were under construction.
Żabka is not in that count. The July 31 tender, valued at about $8.6 billion for more than 13,000 stores, still needs regulatory approval and is expected to close before the end of fiscal 2027. Until it closes, Circle K’s door map is the construction line plus the two acquired sites, not a 13,000-store step-change.
Normalized expense growth in the quarter included spending to speed the foodservice program, the company said, along with inflation and the cost of keeping stores “customer ready,” partly offset by expense control. Food is an investment line now. It is not yet a Żabka door.
