Couche-Tard’s U.S. inside sales rose on energy drinks and nicotine pouches

Same-store merchandise revenue in the U.S. was up 1.7 percent. The company named the categories.

Sept. 4, 2026 — Couche-Tard’s merchandise story in the quarter ended July 19 is specific. Total merchandise and service revenue was $4.9 billion, up 4.1 percent. U.S. same-store merchandise revenue rose 1.7 percent. The company said that gain came from energy drinks and other nicotine products, where it is taking share, partly offset by pricing decisions it described as support for value in a selective spending environment.

Europe’s same-store merchandise revenue rose 1.2 percent on the same categories. Canada was flat. Consolidated same-store merchandise revenue rose 1.6 percent. Miller’s line was “food, energy drinks and other nicotine products.” Food is the third name. The measured growth he attached to share was energy drinks and nicotine.

A 1.7 percent inside gain next to a 1.6 percent drop in U.S. same-store gallons is the convenience mix in one quarter: fewer fill-ups on a same-store basis, a slightly better basket in the categories that do not need a cart. The fuel margin, at 52.61 cents, is what made the quarter. The cooler and the pouch are what kept the inside number positive.
